Mrs. Grace Wakefield, 77, resident of No.2 Oakbrook Drive, Bettendorf, IA, and former Centerville resident, passed away at Mercy Hospital in Davenport, Jan. 18, 1970, at 2:02 PM. She had been in failing health for several years. Born July 21, 1892 in Lucerne, MO, she was the daughter of John and Sarah Stargell. In July of 1909, she was united in marriage with William Henry Wakefield at Powersville, MO., and he preceded her in death March 13, 1957.
The family had lived in Exline and Mystic communities. Mrs. Wakefield was a member of Grace Tabernacle Church in Centerville.
She was preceded in death by two infant daughters; a son, Ersal, who was killed in action in Italy during Work War II; two brothers, Ora and Al Stargell.
Surviving are five sons, Harold of Palmyra, MO., Woodrow of Davenport, Harry and Bobby, both of Rock Island, Ill., Everett of Moline; seven daughters, Mrs. Leona Marsh and Mrs. Alice Stewart, both of Ventura, Calif., Mrs. Ann Clark, Davenport, Mrs. Irene Walker, Elko, Nev., Mrs. Marie Lawson, Des Moines, Mrs. Sarah Roberts, Taylor Ridge, Ill., Mrs. Ruth Benz, Moulton; 36 grand children and 26 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 PM from Miller-Wehrle Funeral Home. Rev. Herbert Zeiler will officiate. Burial will be in Philadelphia Cemetery.
