J. S. MONROE JR., PASSES

The funeral of the late James S. Monroe Jr., was held on Thursday afternoon from the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Monroe, Norrie street. The services were in charge of the Rev. James E. Crosbie of the Church of the Transfiguration, and the music was furnished by the choir of that church.

The pallbearers were E. W. Murley, Morton Durkee, A. R. Mcdonald, Baillies Healy, Dr. Carleton Fox and Harold J. Waples. The floral offerings were numerous and beautiful, and were carried by Clarence Holt, William Tonkin, Walter Winn, Clifford Larson, Verner Johnson and Arthur Lorenson.

James Jr., died at the Union Hospital on Monday morning, after an illness of three weeks. Death was due to meningitis, which developed from a severe cold. He had been in ill health for many months, the first symptoms of declining health coming shortly after he miraculously escaped from serious injury when he fell in an ore pocket at the Ashland ore docks, where he had been employed by the Oliver Iron Mining Co.

He was born at the family home on Norrie street 27 years ago, and had made his home here the greater part of his life. In 1916, he was married to Elda Kohn, of Ashland, who with two sons, survive. He also leaves his parents and two sisters, Mrs. Thomas (Olga) Macmahon, of Tacoma, Wash., and Mrs. Thomas (Hettie) Bargh, of this city; and one brother, Irving, of Minneapolis, to mourn his early death.
