On March 27, 1912 servant Antje Danhof arrived at the age of 22 years with her parents and six siblings on the SS Nieuw Amsterdam at the port of New York, Ellis Island. Their last residence place in the Netherlands was Spijk. Destination: her brother Pieter Danhof in Muskegon, Michigan. On the same ship sailed next to them the 25 years old shoemaker Menko Dijkman from the country village Bierum, Groningen, to whom Antje will marry eight months later on. His destination is also Muskegon, to his friend Klaas Danhof, who arrived 4 December 4, 1911 at New York, also on the SS Nieuw Amsterdam and from Spijk. Klaas is very likely another brother of Antje.
On November 20, 1912 Antje married at Muskegon, southwest Michigan, the three years older Menko Dykman, who had also Dutch parents from the municipality Bierum, province Groningen.
At the end of March 1913 their first child Anna was born in Muskegon and at the end of 1918 Hindriktje (?), a daughter too.
In 1920 the family lived still at Muskegon, but in 1930 in the Dutch settlement of Holland, Gallatin County, located in the southwestern part of Montana, not faraway from Yellowstone National Park.
