"David Rhead Allen --- St. George, UT --- David was born May 31, 1914 in Riverside, Utah, returned peacefully to his Father in Heaven on Sunday, March 7, 1999 at the age of 84, in the presence of his family.
"He is the son of Sarah Inez Rhead and Frank Stewart Allen. He married Rhea Bradford, the love of his life, on January 17, 1937 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. David spent his early years in Coalville, Utah and then moved to Salt Lake City. He graduated from LDS High School before attending the University of Utah. His career in the furniture business provided the avenue to use his interior decorating skills. He was well known in many circles for his friendliness and warm sense of humor. His wife is a prominent musician and their home always rang with song. He loved gardening. He was a strong and active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many callings and leadership roles, including nine years as a guide on temple Square.
"David, a loving father and husband, is survived by his wife, Rhea Bradford Allen; sons: David Bradford (Ester) Allen and Richard Bradford (Linda) Allen; a daughter, Geraldine (J. Robert) Rhodes; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Frank R. Allen; sister, Leila Alexander. His son, Robert Steven Allen preceded him in death.
"Funeral services will be Thursday, March 11, 12 pm. ...at Parleys 6th Ward LDS Chapel. Interment will be in the Salt Lake City Cemetery."
