He was born in Prussia. He immigrated to the USA at age 26, with his parents and younger sister Augusta Emilie. They arrived in NY on 15 Jul 1863 aboard the SS Borussia. Also traveling on the ship was Augusta's future husband, Carl Perschke.

AUGUST FISCHER

August W. Fischer, a pioneer resident of the town of Centerville, passed to his reward on Tuesday morning, at the ripe old age of 85 years, death being due to the infirmities of old age.

Deceased was a native of Prussia and came to this country when a young man, settling in Manitowoc county about 70 years ago, where he operated a farm. His wife (missing text) towoc county about 60 years ago, four daughters, and two sons, as follows:

Mrs. Henry Hingiss near Sheboygan, Mrs. Ad. Hingiss in Kiel, Mrs. Wm. Meyer in Meeme and Mrs. Theresa Goeters in Sheboygan; William Fischer on the old homestead, and August W. Fischer in the town of Centerville. Also 17 grandchildren survive him. The funeral will take place today, Thursday, with services in the Luth. Sachsen church in the town of Centerville, Rev. Ph. Sprengling officiating. Interment in the church cemetery.
