Adelbert taught school in Jewell County. But he packed up his family in January, 1910 and moved from Burr Oak to Middleton, Idaho. He operated a creamery in Caldwell, Idaho for several years. They later purchased the Boise Valley Herald, the weekly Middleton newspaper.

Adelbert Cornell, 92, a longtime resident of Middleton, died Wednesday at a Caldwell hospital following an illness of three weeks. Mr. Cornell was born Jan. 21, 1875, at Harrison Township, Kan. In January of 1910 the family moved to Idaho, and settled on a farm west of Middleton, where they lived until 1947, when they moved to the present home in Middleton. He operated a milk and ice cream business in Caldwell from 1912 to 1916. He acquired the Middleton Herald, now known as the Boise Valley Herald, from William Lemon in 1926, and the paper has been operated by the Cornell family for 41 years. Mr. and Mrs. Cornell would have celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary on the 19th of this month. He was a member of the Friends Church and a former member of Middleton Grange No. 6.
He is survived by his wife, of Middleton; five sons, Irving Cornell, Vance Cornell, Clark Cornell, and Boyd Cornell, all of Middleton, and Clyde Cornell of Kuna; one daughter, Mrs. Lois Hull, of Redding, Calif.; 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, a son, Dean F. Cornell, and two granddaughters.
