Henry Valentine Schohl, 61, a retired businessman, died in his home at 115 S. State St. following a heart attack early today.
He was born March 19, 1989 in Beal City and came to Big Rapids 35 years ago where he opened a jewelry store until his retirement in 1953.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society of the church.
He was married to Miss Charlotte VanOrman in Big Rapids in 1929 and she survives him.
Besides Mrs. Schohl, he is survived by eleven children, Henry Jr. , Spring Lake, Violet, Mrs, Herbert Elliott, Big Rapids, Franklin, Muskegon, Thomas, Grand Rapids, Shirley, Mrs. Lester Buist, Big Rapids, Eileen, Mrs. John Brady, Negaunee, Charlene, Muskegon, Richard, a student at St. Joseph's Seminary, Grand Rapids, Patricia, Maria and Christie, at home. There are 15 grandchildren.
There are also three sisters, Mrs. Edward Kalmeyer, New Haven, Ind., Mrs. E.A. Voisin, Mt Pleasant, and Mrs. Jerome Beachnau, Lansing, and five brothers, Frank, Big Rapids, Charles, Algonac, Matthew, New Haven, Ind., Albert, Detroit, and Arnold, Beal City.
Funeral Mass will be sung for Mr. Schohl at St. Mary's Catholic Church Saturday at 10 a.m. with burial in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
Rosary will be said at the Rogers Funeral Home Friday night at 8 p.m. Friends may call at the funeral home tonight and until time for services.
