Oscar Brown Dotson, 67, lifelong resident of Louisa county, died Wednesday, December 1, 1948, in Burlington, Iowa, after a brief illness. He was born February 13, 1881, at Newport, son of Mark and Martha Elizabeth (Beir) and Mark Dotson.

Oscar was married April 20, 1899, to Edith Virginia Baxter. The couple farmed in the country until 1930 when they moved to Morning Sun. Mr. Dotson was a member of the lOOF lodge of Wapello. He was a member of the Methodist Church and a sexton of the Elmwood Cemetery.

Survivors include the widow; two daughters, Verona Violet Walker, West Burlington, and Geneva Pauline Gilmore, Cedar Rapids; six sons: Bert, Freeport, IL; Theodore, New London; Bovd, East Moline, IL; Mark, Portland, OR; Cleao, of Cedar Rapids, and Kenneth, of Millwood, WA; a sister, Hallie Pauline Deam of Wapello; 17 grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
