SHREVEPORT, LA - Services for Charles J. Dring, 66, will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, January 27, 1990 at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel. Officiating will be the Rev. Ben Fant, minister of Morningside United Methodist Church, assisted by the Rev. Durell Tupperville, Chaplain of Shreveport Fire Department. Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery near Simsboro, LA.
Mr. Dring died Thursday, January 25, 1990 at 10:15 a.m. at Willis-Knighton Medical Center following a sudden illness. He was born November 7, 1923 in Antioch Community near Simsboro, LA and had been a Shreveport resident for 42 years. Mr. Dring was a member of Morningside United Methodist Church. He retired as a Deputy Fire Chief on April 1, 1985 from the Fire Department after 38 years of service.
He is survived by his wife, Wylie Hedgepeth Dring of Shreveport; daughter, Cheryl Dring of Baton Rouge, La.; five sisters, Emma Dring Lee of Springhill, La., Mary Dring Methvin of Simsboro, La., Nelda Dring Gosdin of Springhill, La., Alva Dring of Simsboro, La., numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Bill Cobb, James Blankenship, Jack Chamlee, Bill Ogden, Talmadge Vance, Tom Scott, Thurman Stinson, Ed Jones.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Shreveport Fire Department.
