"MRS. JAMES PURVIS BURIED MONDAY - Mrs. James Purvis passed away at her home last Saturday, June 10, 1944 after an illness of about two weeks. Mrs Purvis, whose maiden name was Margaret Anna Jacoby, was born in Illinois February 7, 1864. She came to Minnesota with her parents as a small child, settling on a homestead in East Indian Creek where she grew up. Since then she has made her home in Plainview. On December 24, 1889 she was married to James A Purvis and they enjoyed a long lifetime together, celebrating their golden wedding anniversary in 1939. Mr. Purvis passed away the following November. Surviving are four children, Mrs. Claud Lawrence, Mrs. Edward Nienow, Mrs. Romie Gerbert and Samuel Purvis. A son and daughter, George and Mrs. Gust Max, preceded their parents in death. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Abbott, Arlington, S. D. Funeral services were conducted at Foley & Lindsey funeral home at two o'clock Monday, with Rev. C. P. Baenziger officiating. Burial was in Greenwood cemetery. Pallbearers were Clayton Edwards, Harry Balcom, John Puetz, Clarence Kruger, Herman Wempner and George Nienow. Those from away who attended the funeral were Mrs. Ella Owens and Miss Margaret Owens, Glendale, Calif. Mrs. Garnet Spring, Rochester; Bertha Johnson, Mrs. Lawrence Ehlenfeldt and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Johnson, Weaver; Mrs. Maggie Weiser and Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Ehlenfeldt, Minneiska; and and Mrs. Bert Olson, Millville, Mrs. Clara McRay and Mrs. Lena Stoeing Whitewater; and Mrs. Donald Raatz, Hoosier Ridge."
