An Aged Teacher's Sudden Death
A. J. Vawter, sixty-three years of age, and living at No. 950 North Alabama street, while attending to chores about his yard, yesterday, fell to the ground in an unconscious condition. He was carried into the house and died two hours afterwards. His death was caused by paralysis of the brain. Mr. Vawter came here several years ago from Madison, Ind., and taught in the public school for a long time.

A. J. Vawter, 950 North Alabama street, was stricken with paralysis of the brain yesterday, dying within a few hours. He was aged sixty-three, and leaves a family. He was a teacher in former years, and came here from Madison.

VAWTER - At 12:45 p.m., Wednesday, January 13, 1886, Prof. A. J. Vawter, at his residence, 950 North Alabama street. The deceased was a prominent educator of the State, formerly superintendent of public schools, Lafayette, and also connected with educational work at other points in Indiana and Kentucky- a noble worker of the highest Christian character. Funeral at the residence on Friday at 2 p.m. Friends of the family are invited.
