Mrs. Elizabeth Stott died at her home in East Franklin last Friday morning at 4:00 o’clock, aged eighty-two years. She has been an invalid for several months and several weeks ago fell, breaking her hip, never recovering from the injuries received at that time. It was impossible to set the bone on account of her feeble condition and as a result she suffered much pain during her last six weeks’ illness. Mrs. Stott was born in Kentucky in 1811. She was a daughter of Rev. William Vawter, one of the pioneer preachers of Southern Indiana. Until 1884 she lived with her husband, Rev. John Stott near North Vernon, in Jennings county. Their golden wedding was celebrated in April, 1884. Shortly afterwards they moved to Johnson county, near Hopewell. Here her husband died in December, 1887. Four of her children survive her, Mary J. Stott, Mrs. Maxa Moncrief, Mrs. Jennie Chaille and Dr. W. T. Stott. The funeral was held at the First Baptist church on Saturday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock. The services were conducted by Rev. E. S. Gardiner. The burial was at Greenlawn cemetery.

Mrs. Elizabeth Stott died at her home in Franklin on Friday morning, Nov. 17, 1893, aged eighty-two years. Her death was partly due to old age, and partly to a fall received six weeks before her death. She was the widow of John Stott, who died in 1887. Her maiden name was Vawter, she being married to Mr. Stott in 1832. Their golden wedding was observed in 1882. After Mr. Stott’s death the family moved to Franklin, they having previously lived in the Hopewell neighborhood. Mrs. Stott was the mother of five children, four of whom are living, all in Franklin. They are Dr. Stott, president of Franklin college, Mrs. Martha Moncrief, Mrs. Jennie Chaille and Miss Mary Stott. The funeral services occurred from the First Baptist church on Saturday afternoon and were conducted by Rev. E. S. Gardiner. A number of friends from Indianapolis, Vernon and other places were in attendance.
