Bowen Dies After Illness
Clarence Earl Bowen, 63, a carpenter for many years, died yesterday afternoon at Holy Family Hospital. He had been in failing health for a number of years.

Mr. Bowen was born June 8, 1902, in Estherville to Mr. and Mrs. Albert Bowen. He lived in Dows as a boy and in Alexandria, Minn.

June 8, 1924, he was married to Mary Wilhour in Dows. He worked on farms in the Dows area until 1928 and was employed by the Rock Island Railway for 10 years.

They moved to Estherville in 1934.

Survivors include his wife and one brother, Burtis Leroy Bowen, of Estherville. His parents and one brother preceded him in death.

Family funeral services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Reese Henry Funeral Home, followed by 2 p.m. public services at Union Baptist Church, Rev. Rawlin Johnson officiated. Burial will be in East Side Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 9 a.m. Friday until 1 p.m. Saturday.

Pallbearers will be Edward Schubert, Leroy Clabaugh, Warren Schroeder, Harold Fisher, Harry Fisher and James Omundson. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 3, 1966)
