James Brink, age 83, of Sioux Center, Iowa, died Thursday morning at the Sioux Center Community Hospital. Funeral services were held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Middleburg Free Grace Reformed Church of Middleburg, Iowa with Rev. Stephen Breen officiating. Burial followed in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center, Iowa under the direction of the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center. The Brink Family requests memorial contributions be made to Middleburg Free Grace Reformed Church.

James Brink was born near Hospers, Iowa to Charles and Nettie (Roos) Brink on March 11, 1919. Jim was raised on the family farm northeast of Hospers and attended school through the eighth grade at Hospers Public School. Jim was united in marriage to Johanna Intveld on November 27, 1940 at rural Orange City. Following their marriage Jim and Johanna farmed land they rented near various northwest Iowa communities. Jim also did some auctioneering in his younger years after attending auctioneer's school in Austin, Minnesota.

In 1962 he and Johanna settled in Sioux Center where Jim was employed by the Farmers Coop Elevator. Jim worked for the elevator for 22 years in the feed department, retiring in 1984. Over the years Jim was an active member of the Reformed Church of America at each community they lived. He served in capacities as elder, deacon or Sunday school superintendent at Maurice Reformed Church, Melvin Reformed Church and Central Reformed Church of Sioux Center. He was presently a member of Middleburg Free Grace Reformed Church.

Surviving are his three children: Ronald Brink and his wife, Beverly of Ringsted, IA; Linda Schulte and her husband, John of Orange City, and Delmar Brink of Des Moines, IA; along with six grandchildren: Jay (Val) Brink of Sioux Center; Ann (Chuck) Vander Vegte of Orange City; Kay (Steve) Grosvenor of Beresford, SD; Rochele Schulte of Orange City; Terese Schulte of Sioux Falls, SD; and Aaron Schulte of Orange City; and two great-grandchildren: Jaclyn and Ty Brink of Sioux Center.

Jim is also survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law: Sam and Evelyn Brink of Sheldon, IA, and Marion and Marlys Brink of Sibley, IA; a sister-in-law, Eleanor Brink of Storm Lake and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Johanna; his parents; brother, Arie Brink and two sisters, Pearl Brink and Sally Hulst.
