News of the death of Henry C. Dana, pioneer of the Nlpomo section, which occurred about 8 o'clock last night at the Lucas Sanitarium in Santa Maria after an illness of ten days, came as a shock to his many friends In the county. Mr. Dana's Illness had been of a critical nature and the members of his family were gathered at his bedside to be with him at the end.
Mr. Dana was 83 years and four days old at the time of his death. He was a native son. having been born In Santa Barbara but had spent the greater part of his life in the Nipomo section. He was the son of Capt. W. G. Dana, a pioneer of the county. Funeral will be held Thursday morning with requiem mass at the Catholic church in Nlpomo •at 9 o'clock. Interment will be in the Catholic cemetery in San Luis Obispo.
Besides his widow, Mrs. Josephine Dana, the decedent is survived by the following; Five daughters, Mrs. Adeline Fuller of Sacramento; Mrs. Juanita Paulson of Taft' Mrs. Lillian Rush of Garden Grove and Misses Marie and Laura Dana of Nlpomo; a son, Harry Dana of Taft; four brothers, John F., David A., Samuel A. Dana, all of Nlpomo, and Frank A. Dana of Los Angeles.
