Anton Liter was born on 1/28/1905 in Plum City. He was the son of Joseph Liter (1872-1956) and Mary Ann Steffes (1876-1939) and had 13 siblings: George (1898-1898), Peter Paul "Pete" (1899-1973), John "Johnnie" (1900-1901), Twins: Anna Marie "Annie" (1903-1994) and William John "Bill" (1903-1988), Twins: Matthew "Matt" (1906-1906) and Frances Katherine (1906-1959), a Baby Girl (1907-1907), Henry (1909-1909), Margaret Katheryn (1911-1994), Leonard (1913-1976), Thomas Peter "Tom" (1915-1938), and Helen (1920-2011).

Tony spent his childhood on the family farm in Plum City once he became an adult, starting farming. Tony met his first wife, Getrude DeLong through her brothers, Hiram and Harrison DeLong, who had both married Tony's sisters Frances and Margaret. Tony and Gertrude were married in 1928 and together had two children: Doris Winifred (1929-1971) and Winifred (1930-1930). After the death of their younger daughter, Tony and Gertrude's marriage broke down and they divorced in 1931.

Following his first marriage, Tony moved around northwestern Wisconsin, leaving his daughter Doris to live with his sister and brother-in-law, Frances and Hiram DeLong. On 7/2/1942 in Wabasha, MN, Tony remarried to Chriselda McQuade (1907-1993). Together they would have one son, Michael Thomas Liter (1942-1999), before divorcing sometime in mid 1940s, upon which Chriselda and Michael moved to California. Until recently, the majority of family members didn't know that Tony's second marriage and son Michael existed.

Around 1946, Tony and his daughter Doris moved to rural Ohio, where they would remain for the rest of their lives. On 9/10/1947 in Pomeroy, OH, Tony was married for a third time to Anna Hensley (1907-1981). They went on to have one son, Richard (Living). The couple would spend the rest of their lives in Rural Ohio.
