Eugene L. "Buck" Bumbaugh, 80, of 316 Park Street, Mont Alto, PA, passed away at 3:30 P.M., Monday, August 1, 2011 in Quincy Village, Quincy, PA. He had been in failing health for the past six months and critically ill for one week.
Born May 6, 1931 in Pond Bank, PA, he was the son of the late Reba (Bumbaugh) Stoops.
Mr. Bumbaugh served in the United States Army from 1954-1956 spending time stationed in Greenland.
He and his wife of 60 years, Mrs. Patricia A. (Verdier) Bumbaugh, were married March 10, 1951 in Hagerstown, MD. They had lived at their present residence since their marriage.
Mr. Bumbaugh was employed as a mechanic at Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, PA until his retirement in 1981. He was later employed for Franklin County Nursing Home, presently Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Chambersburg, as a van driver and later as director of maintenance until 1990.
He attended services at Wesley United Methodist Church, Mont Alto, and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, E. David Bumbaugh of Chambersburg, Sandra K. Rock of Pond Bank and Pamela A. Duffey and Brad A. Bumbaugh, both of Mont Alto; eight grandchildren, Charles "Chuck" Rock, Stephanie A. Whittington, Courtney K. Greenwood, Erin A. Duffey, Jennifer E. Bumbaugh, Brooke A. Bumbaugh, Chasidy L. Bumbaugh and Shawn D. Bumbaugh; five great-grandchildren, Haven A. Whittington, Noah C. Rock, Chase A. Monn, Logan J. Rock and Jayden A. Whittington; three sisters, Faye McKee of Altoona, PA, Isabelle Miller of McConnellsburg, PA and Marlyn Stoops of Chambersburg; one brother, Glenn Stoops of Pond Bank; his sister-in-law, Susie Burcker of Hagerstown, MD; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Orville Stoops; and four sisters, infant Mary Stoops, Janet Hardsock, Vivian Stoops and Connie Seals.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, August 5, 2011 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 South Broad Street, Waynesboro, with Pastor Rachel Horst and Pastor Robert Flory, officiating. Burial will follow in Mont Alto Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, Friday morning, in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, Franklin and Fulton County Unit, 384 Floral Avenue, Chambersburg PA 17201.
