Son of Elizabeth "Betsy" Whitener and Henry Summerow.

Daniel married in Lincoln County February 12, 1809, Elizabeth Gilbert,14 daughter of Margaret (?) and Conrad Gilbert (John Blackburn was surety). She was born September 18, 1789;19 died August 11, 1871, aged 81 years, 10 months, 23 days; buried at St. Matthews German Reformed Church Cemetery.

They had seven children:

b. Margaret Summerow b. 1812, d. 1883
c. Henry Summerow b. 1814, d. 1902
d. Mary J. Summerow b. 1819, d. 1887
e. Sarah Summerow b. 1820, d. after 1860

g. Solomon Summerow b. 1825, d. 1891
