Born July 9, 1922 in Portland, he was the son of Mack and Edna (Hathaway) Evens. He had been employed in the packing room at Armstrong Cork Co. in Dunkirk. He was a member of Glass Blowers Assn., Local 96.
Surviving are the wife, Pyllis; three sons, Hal, serving with the USS Orleck; Jerry and Blaine at home; one daughter, Sherry, also at home; two brothers, Robert, Dunkirk, and Virgil, Union City; two sisters, Mrs. Louella Martin, Fort Wayne and Mrs. Jean Bantz, Dunkirk.
Services will be announced later.

Funeral services for will be held Saturday in Martin Funeral Home in Dunkirk for Thurl E. Evens, 45, 413 Lincoln Ave., Dunkirk, who died Wednesday. Rev. Willima Cutshaw will officiate, burial to follow in Salem Cemetery, Jay Couty. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Friday.
