Hanas, Sophie Theresa Stawski, age 84 of Nimitz, formerly of New Britain, Conn., died 3:20 a.m., Monday, Nov. 16, 1998 in a Beckley hospital following a long illness.

Born June 2, 1916, in New Britain, Conn., she was the daughter of the late John Stanley and Eleanor Gryzl Galka.

Mrs. Hanas was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Hinton, a former member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in New Britain, Conn., and was retired from Textron Industries as a supervisor.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph Stanley Stawski (born May 22nd 1914 and died Jan. 30th, 1972); and a brother, John Galka.

Survivors include her husband, Andrew Hanas;
A daughter, Andrea Stawski Pack of Nimitz where she had made her home for the past few years with her daughter's late husband, Walter H. Pack Sr. who recently passed away in May;
A son, Joseph Raymond Stawski and his wife, Lucille, of New Britain, Conn.;
Five grandchildren, Ricky Robert Pack of Jumping Branch, Walter H. Pack, Jr. of Nimitz, Robert Joseph Pack of Nimitz, Debbie Stawski McLeod of New Britain, Conn., and Raymond Joseph Stawski of New Britain, Conn.;
Seven great-grandchildren;
Two brothers, Bobby and Steve, both of Connecticut;
Three sisters, Veronica, Clarice and Eleanor, all of Connecticut.

Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Hinton, with Father David J. Schmitt as celebrant and Father Harold Dunn co-celebrant, and a grandson, Joseph Andrew Pack served as altar server.

A rosary and prayer vigil service Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors, Hinton. Family and friends served as pallbearers when body was for internment at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in New Britain CT. Viewing was also made at the Blogoswaski Funeral Home for family & Friends before burial.

In lieu of flowers, donations of sympathy may be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church or the Loaves and Fishes, 309 Second Ave., Hinton. Arrangements made by Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors, Hinton.
