Stanley J. Galka, 80, formerly of New Britain and Plainville, passed away on Friday (October 30, 2009) at the Rocky Hill Home and Hospital.


Stanley was born in New Britain and was the son of the late John and Eleanor (Gzyl) Galka.


Stanley proudly served his country in the US Army during World War II and the Korean Conflict and worked for many years in the Dairy Industry. He lived for many years with his brother and conservator, Robert Galka, of Plainville and his late wife, Nora, who took special care of Stanley during his illnesses.


In addition to his brother Bob, Stanley is also survived by his two daughters, Janet and Shirley; a granddaughter, Sarah; his two sisters, Veronica Scrozato and husband John and Claire Dzioba and husband Edward; all of New Britain along with many nieces and nephews. Stanley was predeceased by a brother and his wife, John and Regina Galka; and two sisters and their husbands, Eleanor and Stanley Kosloski and Sophie and Andy Hanas.


Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Rocky Hill Home and Hospital Chapel in the Healthcare Facility, 287 West Street, Rocky Hill, with a one hour viewing prior to the services in the Chapel from 9:00-10:00 a.m.

Burial with Full Military Honors accorded will follow in the Colonel Gates Cemetery, Rocky Hill.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, November 2, 2009 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at New Britain Memorial Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Avenue, New Britain.
