MRS. GEO. SPENCER PASSES AWAY AFTER LONG ILLNESS

Adelina Horsley Spencer, 65, wife of George B. Spencer, Jr., born on April 3, 1878, the daughter of Thomas William and Sophia Edgehill Horsley, passed away at the family home in Paris, Tuesday, April 20, of pneumonia after a lingering illness of 21 years.
Mrs. Spencer was a lifelong resident of Bear Lake Valley with the exception of eleven years during her early girlhood, six of which were spent in Soda Springs, Idaho. Here she began her study of music with Mrs. August Largilliare. From here she went to Salt Lake City where she lived for five years. She attended and graduated from the L.D.S. College and studied music under Nora Gleason and Arthur Shepherd. Also while living in Salt Lake City she sang in the famous Mormon Salt Lake Tabernacle Choir, being present and singing at the dedicatory services held in the Salt Lake Temple, and also going with the choir to the World's Fair in Chicago in 1893.
Mrs. Spencer moved back to Paris in 1896 and taught music. She was Stake organist for twenty-five years in the Bear Lake Stake, also Stake chorister in the Mutuals and Relief Society. Helped with music and sang in all parts of the Stake; singing at many funerals. She was also one of the first instructors in the Bear Lake Stake Academy.

Adelina Horsley married George B. Spencer Jr., in the Salt Lake Temple onSept. 5, 1900. She was the mother of nine children, five sons and four daughters, six of whom survive her, besides her husband: Lucille Spencer and Alice S. Christensen of Provo, Utah; G. Albert Spencer of Salt Lake City, Utah; T. Horsley Spencer, John W. Spencer and Leonora S. Stucki, of Paris, and eight grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters and one brother: Mrs. Amelia Rose of Los Angelas, California, Mrs. Laura Lau, Mrs. Amy Miles and Mr. Thomas W. Horsley of Soda Springs.

The funeral services will be held Friday, April 23, at 2 o'clock p.m., in the Bear Lake Stake Tabernacle. Arrangements are under the direction of the F. M. Williams Mortuary of Montpelier.

FUNERAL SERVICES HELD FRIDAY FOR MRS. SPENCER

Funeral services were held last Friday afternoon in the Bear Lake Stake Tabernacle for Mrs. George B. Spencer.
Order of services as follows:
Mixed quartet, Jane Shepherd, Della Laker, Max Haddock, and Glen Longhurst, sang "Resting Now From Care and Sorrow."
Invocation by Bp. Dan C. Rich.
Quartette, "Sister, Thou Was't Mild and Lovely."
Remarks by Sr. Margaret Longhurst, Sr. Annie Clayton, and Sr. Christine Tueller.
Vocal solo, "Ana Maria" by Max Haddock.
Remarks by Bro. Christian Tueller and Bro. W. Smith Hoge.
Violin solo by Sr. Sybil Cluff accompanied at the organ by Sr. Ruby Bolton.
Remarks by Pres. E. W. Stucki
Quartette, "My Jesus, As Thou Wilt."
Benediction, Bro. Charles G. Longhurst.
