Gary "Jack" Wayne Sawyer, 54, died November 19, 1997 at the Twin Rivers Medical Center in Kennett. Born February 1, 1943, he was the son of the late Dallas and Katie Wylie Sawyer.
He was united in marriage on March 12, 1965 to Carolyn Haven. He was a veteran in the army.
Preceeding him in death were his parents and one brother, Dallas Sawyer.
Survivors include: his wife, Carolyn Sawyer of the home; one son, Billy DeWayne Sawyer of Hayti, Mo.; three daughters, Jackie King of Saint Roberts, Mo, Carla Mitchem of Portageville, Mo. and Tammy DePriest of Gideon, Mo.; two sisters, Annette Blankenship of Hayti, Mo. and Ella Mae Rankin of Morris, Illinois; four half brothers, Allen Robbins, Tommy Robbins, John Henry Robbins all of Marston, Mo. and J.W. Robbins of Bell City, Mo.; nine grandchildren, Mienica Gram, Denise Gram, Erica Gram, David Depriest, Wikki DePriest, Billy Sawyer Jr., Candice Sawyer, Jackie Sawyer, Chassidy Mitchem, Baby Mitchem.
Services were held November 22, 1997 at 2 p.m. at the DeLisle Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Griff Walker officiating. Burial was in the Portageville Cemetery.
DeLisle Funeral Home was in charge of services.
