Joseph N. Springsteen, 81 died Saturday morning at his home 585 Pearl St. Lapeer from a heart ailment.
He was born July 27, 1871 in Brantford, Ontario, son of Daniel and Mary Springsteen and came with his parents to Michigan when 12 years old.
He was married to Bertha Rich on Sept. 22, 1898 and has been a resident of Lapeer since that time.
Surviving are his wife, four sons and two daughters; Claude of Clio, Clyde of Flint, Earl and Russell of Lapeer. Mrs. Florence Chapin of Fostoria and Mrs. Guelph Shoults of Thomas; two brothers, Henry of Oxford and Samson Springsteen of Mr. Morris; a sister, Mrs. Minnie Knox of Detroit; 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Baird Funeral Home, the Rev. Everett A. Smith officiating and burial was made in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Mr. Springsteen was employed by the Lapeer County Road Commission for many years but was retired.
