Mrs. Gertie Bell Metzger Sanders, 87, of Route 4, Farmington, died Feb. 3, 1989 at Farmington Regional Medical Center. Born Feb. 21, 1901 in Charleston, she was the daughter of Patrick Henry and Lydia Jane Pollard Metzger. She attended Farmington First Free Will Baptist Church. She was a retired nurses aide from St. Louis State Hospital in Farmington. She was the widow of Buster Sanders.
She is survived by one son, Harold Sanders of California; Two daughters, Mrs. Odessia "Mrs. Max" Robbins of Route 4, Farmington and Mrs. Lydia "Mrs. Bill" Poole of Hyattsville, Md.; Two sisters, Mrs. Effie Sharp of St. Louis and Mrs. Mamie Gurlen of Bragg City.
And several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services were Feb. 6 at 2 p.m. at Jimmy Osburn Funeral Home chapel in Hayti, the Rev. Miles Zeigler officiating, with burial in Dry Bayou Cemetery.
