The Correctionville News, 3 August 1972, page 1: Funeral services for Worden B. Whyte, 87, of Anthon were held Tuesday morning in the United Methodist Church at Cushing with Rev. Donald Harbour of Anthon officiating. Burial was in the Cushing Cemetery under direction of Walter Funeral Home. Worden Benani Whyte, son of Robert and Clara Blackman Whyte, was born at Davenport, July 6, 1885, and resided in Davenport until he was seventeen years old. At that time the family moved to Cherokee Co., where they farmed and later moved to Cushing. On June 22, 1910, Worden married Nellie Moore at Sioux City. They farmed in the Cushing area and later moved to Sioux City where he was employed by A.Y. McDonald and Wincharger Co., and later was an interior and exterior decorator in Sioux City. Mrs. Whyte died in 1951. In May 1959 he married Emma Mosier May at Davenport. He then resided at Durant until her death in 1968, at which time he moved to the home of his daughter, Roma, in Anthon. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Anthon, and a former member of the Cushing Methodist Church. He passed away at a Sioux City hospital July 29 at the age of 87. Mr. Whyte is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Walter (Roma) Hladik of Anthon, a son, Vearl Whyte of Davenport, three stepdaughters, Mrs. Roxie Bell Proksch, Mrs. Grace Miller and Mrs. Ruth Natzke, all of Davenport, six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Irwin Whyte of Cushing. He was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, two sisters and four brothers.
