John was the second child of 5 born to Mary(Lavelle) and Hank Calhoun.

He grew up in Columbus and married Gertrude Harris daughter of Anna Emily (Meyer) and Benjamin Franklin Harris, from Park City.

They were married on Mar 1, 1918(on his birthday), just prior to his leaving for the Army. He was Army Air Corps; airplane Mechanic. They were together at Eberto Field and Dayton AFB.

After his discharge they returned to Columbus and he joined his dad Hank in an auto repair business, The American Garage. He was a mechanic that could fix anything!

He and Gertie had children;

Helen 1921 ~ 2005
Patricia 1924 ~
John Harris 1931 ~ 2006

He lived in Columbus his whole live. To his grand~kids he was "Bunko". He was a big gentle man with kind blue eyes. A stroke robbed his speech for the last few years of his life, but not his kindness.
