COOKEVILLE--Funeral Services for Landon
Joseph Bruce,82,of Cookeville, were held
at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July13, from the
chapel of Whitson Funeral Home. Burial
was in Morgan-Pippin Cemetery with full
military honors by the Veterans Honor
Guard.
Mr. Bruce died Monday, July 11,2011, in
Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He
was born March 3,1929, in Putnam County
to the late Phy Landon and Beulah Mae
Rogers Bruce.
Mr. Bruce worked at the Cookeville Post
Office for 27 years and was a member of
the Baptist Faith. His family includes
his wife of 56 years, Dorothy Tony Bruce
of Cookeville, a brother, Joe Byrd Bruce
of Maryville, and a half sister Betty
Jean Hunley. In addition to his parents,
he was preceded in death by two sisters,
Lois Presley and Thelma Carter.
Pallbearers will be Scott Richmond,
Harold Bilbrey, John Bilbrey, Ray Jackson,
Mike Martin and Wayne Simcox. Bros. Chuck
Branch, Gene Schmid and Bob Pharris
officiated at the services.
