BAXTER –Funeral services for Phylandon "Benny" Bruce, 70, of Third Street, were held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Baxter Funeral Home with Rev. John Pentz and Rev.Truman Graves officiating.
Burial was in Odd Fellow Cemetery.
Mr. Bruce, a rural mail carrier for Baxter Star Route, died Friday at his home after an extended illness. He
was a native of Texas and the son of Alvin Byrd and Nora Tennessee (Jared) Bruce.
Survivors are his wife, Martha (Medley) Bruce of Baxter, two sons, Landon Bruce of Cookeville and Joe Bruce of Maryville, TN; four daughters; Mrs. Bryan Handley of Baxter, Mrs. Bob Presley (Lois Bruce) of Cookeville, Mrs. Hubert Carter of Cookeville, Rt. 8 and Mrs. Elizabeth Roberts of Detroit, MI.
Two sisters, Mrs. Eva Watts of Baxter, and Mrs. Edna Jones of Carthage; two brothers, James Bruce of Baxter and Hatton Bruce of CA; five grandchildren and a great grandchild
