Mr. Elbert James Adams, 68, passed away, Friday, June 3, 2011 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Lenoir, NC.
Mr. Adams was born on April 19, 1943 in Caldwell County to the late Orin Steele and Fannie Blye Sutton Adams. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, John Wesley Adams, daughter-in-law, Lori Adams, and granddaughter, Abigail Adams; and two brothers, William Adams of Lenoir, NC, and Walter Thad Adams of N. Wilkesboro, NC.
Survivors include former wives, Bertha Adams of Hudson, NC and Frieda Angley of Hudson, NC; three sons, James Adams of Hudson, NC, Jason and wife, Carrie and daughter, Jessica from Lenoir, NC, Justin and wife, Andrea and two sons, Cooper and Connor of Granite Falls, NC; two daughters, Joyce Collins and husband David and two daughters, Rachel and Sarah of Lenoir, NC, Jennifer Braswell and husband Dean and two children, Gracie and Brooks of Gamewell, NC; six brothers, Otis Adams of Lenoir, NC, Wayne Adams and wife Virginia of Lenoir, NC, Charlie Adams and wife, Patsy of Lenoir, NC, George Adams of N. Wilkesboro, NC, Howard Adams and wife, Mary of Boone, NC, and Calvin J. Adams of Hendersonville, NC; two sisters, Roberta Gaddy and husband, Winston, and Gail Fish and husband, Floyd, all of Maggie Valley, NC; and eight grandchildren.
A graveside service for Mr. Adams will be held on Sunday, June 5, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Boone's Fork Baptist Church Cemetery, 5324 US Hwy 221 South, Blowing Rock, NC, with the Reverend Donald Stines officiating. The family will receive friends, Saturday, June 4, 2011 at Pendry's Funeral Home in Lenoir, NC from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
Serving as pallbearers will be James Adams, Jason Adams, Justin Adams, Reece Adams, Josuha Matthews Adams and Andy Adams.
