Charlie Clayton Adams, age 71, of Lenoir, went home to be with Jesus on Monday, February 19, 2018 at Frye Regional Medical Center. He was born September 17, 1946 in Caldwell County to the late Orin Steel and Fannie Sutton Adams. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers; and two grandchildren, Seth Taylor and Kent Taylor. Mr. Adams loved his Lord and Savior and attended Unity Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Patsy Widner Adams, of the home; one son Charlie Owen Adams; four daughters, Lisa Mahala, Janice Adams Chester, Regina Adams Boston, and Charlene Adams Taylor; two brothers, Otis Adams and Howard Adams; two sisters, Roberta Gaddy and Gail Fish; special aunt, Ethel Sutton; and the special joys of his life were his fourteen grandchildren, Lisa Marie Harmon, Josh Huskey, Amanda Bumgarner, Leslie Lewis, Dusty Boston, Matthew Taylor, Amber Chester, Brandon Adams, Olivia Boston, Sara Adams, Sophia Boston, Bella Boston, Charlie Boston, and Nicholas Boston; and eleven great-grandchildren. Funeral service was held February 23, 2018 at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Gary Gragg. Interment was in Boone Fork Cemetery, US 221 near Blowing Rock, NC. Serving as pallbearers were Owen Adams, Paul Adams, Brandon Adams, Josh Huskey, Matthew Taylor, and Clayton Robbins. Serving as honorary pallbearers were George Mitchell, Roger Smith, Stephen Bortz, Randall Mahala, and Andy Adams. Greer-McElveen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
