Son of Jonathan Ferrin and Harriet Webster.

Married Sep 1853 Alton, Belknap, New Hampshire to Sarah E Adams.

To their union was born 3 children:
Clarence L Ferrin, Ella Harriet Ferrin, and Anna Ferrin.

Benjamin was named for a Baptist Minister, Benjamin Franklin McMurphy, who often preached in the Old Bridgewater Church where Jonathan Ferrin, his father, had a pew for many years. This family took him into their home at the age of fifteen months and he stayed with them until he was fifteen years of age, then returning to the home farm at Bear Hill, Alexandria, Grafton, New Hampshire. He was always known as Frank McMurphy. Whether he was married under this name we do not know, but some of his children were called "McMurphy." He married at the age of nineteen years, and lived in Alton, Belknap, New Hampshire for many years. Later he worked in lumber camps in the winter, his wife accompanying him, and in the summer they lived in Alexandria, Grafton, New Hampshire.
