Funeral services were held for Rosalia Lowenstein, Belfield, on Monday June 3, at St. Bernard's Catholic Church. She died at St. Joseph's Hospital May 29, after being ill for two weeks.Father Eugene Frank officiated and special music was provided by the church choir with Miss Paula Kreitinger as organist.Pallbearers were Bob Grisham, Harvey Robertson, Selmer Enger, Don Howie, Vern Schumacher and Richard Schurke.

Mrs. Lowenstein was born in South Russia on Sept. 5, 1892. Her parents were Baltasser Hoerner and Elizabeth Hoerner. She came to the United States at the age of eight months with her parents to Roscoe, SD. She was married to John Lowenstein in Bowdle, SD on December 8, 1914.After her marriage, she lived in Roscoe for two years and then moved to Lovell, Wyo., where they lived until 1923. They then moved to the Belfield area where they lived until retiring into Belfield five years ago. She was an honorary member of St. Bernard's Guild.

Survivors include six daughters, Mary, Mrs. Robert Grisham, Hobbs, NM, Ann, Mrs. Ronald Rosenberg, Fairfield, CA, Laura, Mrs. Vern Schumacher, Mountain Home, ID, Frances, Mrs Donald Howie, Belfield, Irene, Mrs. Selmer Enger, Riverdale and Martha, Mrs. Harvey Robertson, Napa, CA; five sons, Joseph, Tacoma, WA, Balzer, Riverside, CA, Tony, Lodi, CA, John, Hilo, HI, Lee Roy, Belfield; 38 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; seven brothers, Mike Hoerner, Bowdle, SD, Msgr Henry Hoerner, Aberdeen, SD, John Hoerner, Crompton, CA, Leo Hoerner, Ipswich, SD, Tony and Pete Hoerner, both of Sioux Falls, SD, and George Hoerner, Aberdeen, SD; four sisters, Mrs. Mary Blondo, Grandview, WA, and Mrs. Joe Heier, Hosmer, SD, Mrs. Joe H. Dewald, Bowdle, SD and Mrs. Martin Abler, Hoven, SD.

She is preceded in death by her husband, one daughter and one brother.
