He was the husband of Betty V. Brashears Wiles.
Born Nov. 9, 1924, in Harmony, he was a son of the late Oscar C. Wiles and Oneida Ausherman Wiles Warfield.
Mr. Wiles was employed in his early years with the Mutual Insurance Co. in Frederick, and retired from Sears in Frederick where he was a long-time salesman. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Middletown, for over 50 years. He was also a member of Valley Memorial Post 9 AMVETS, Middletown; Francis Scott Key Post 11, Frederick; and the Old Timers at BPO Elks 684, Frederick.
Mr. Wiles played baseball with the Tri-State League and the Middletown-Harmony Teams. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two brothers, Allen E. Wiles and wife Edith of Frederick, and Paul O. Wiles and wife Barbara of Hansonville; one half-brother, Bernard Warfield of Frederick; two half-sisters, Nadine Tinker and husband John of Harrison, Tenn., and Gloria J. Bobacek of Middletown; one aunt, Alice Ausherman Dennis of Mount Airy; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Wiles was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl Wiles and Ernest Wiles; one half-brother, Robert Warfield; and one half-sister, Helen Lenhart.
Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. Friday, April 28, at Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., Middletown, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 29, at the funeral home, with Mr. Wiles pastor, the Rev. Donald Turley, officiating.
Interment will be in Lutheran Cemetery, Middletown.
