MOUNT SAVAGE,MARYLAND -- Richard "Dick" Walsh, 79, of Mount Savage, passed away Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008, at the Golden Living Center, Meyersdale, Pa., surrounded by his family.

Born March 1, 1928, in Mount Savage, he was the son of the late Earl Lester Walsh and Margaret E. (Pratt) Walsh. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth A. (Bowers) Walsh on Aug. 7, 2001; one brother, Earl Joe Walsh; one sister, Mary Margaret Rice; one brother-in-law, Raymond L. Sites; two nieces, Sharon J. Walsh and Gina Sue Walsh.

Mr. Walsh was a mechanic/heavy equipment operator for Bachman Contractors for several years, and he was a retired tractor and trailer mechanic with Ryder Truck Rental for Kelly-Springfield Tire Company. He was also a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.

Dick was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Mount Savage, Old Rail Post 24 V.F.W., Mount Savage, and Farrady Post 24 American Legion, Frostburg.

He is survived by his only daughter, Lou Ann (Walsh) Shaffer and husband John "Bill" Shaffer; one sister, Rita (Walsh) Sites, of Catonsville; one brother, John E. "Jack" Walsh and wife Jeanie, of Mount Savage; one sister-in-law, Eleanor (Grabenstein) Walsh; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home P.A. 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Christian Wake Service will be held at the funeral home on Sunday at 8:30 p.m., led by Father Patrick Bessel.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Patrick's Cath-olic Church, Mount Savage, on Monday at 11 a.m. with Father Patrick Bessel as celebrant.

Interment will be in the St. Patrick's Cemetery, Mount Savage.

Military honors will be accorded at graveside by members of the Old Rail Post 6025 V.F.W. and Farrady Post 24 A.L. Honor Guards.

Pallbearers will be his nephews, Denny Joe Walsh, Benny Joe Walsh, Bobby Joe Willingham, John E. Walsh Jr., Donnie Rice, Ray Sites, Gary Sites, Tom Walsh and Earl Rice.

Honorary pallbearers will be his nieces, Renee Loovis and Debbie Albright.
