MOUNT SAVAGE — John E. "Jack" Walsh Sr. 76, of Mount Savage, died March 15, 2013 at his residence.
Born Dec. 11, 1936, in Mount Savage, to the parents of Earl Lester Walsh and Margaret E. (Pratt) Walsh. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon J. Walsh; two brothers, Earl Joe Walsh and Richard "Dick" Walsh; one sister, Mary Margaret Rice; and a niece, Gina Sue Walsh.
Mr. Walsh was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Mount Savage, receiving the Medal of Honor from the Archdiocese of Baltimore for work in the church. He was a member of Mount Savage Taxing Committee, the Water Committee, the Community Park, and the Mount Savage Fire Department and Hall. He retired from Bethlehem Steel after 36 years as an Area Mechanical Foreman.
Surviving are his wife, Shelva Jean "Jeanie" Walsh; sons, John E. Walsh Jr. and wife Deborah L. Walsh and Thomas L. Walsh and Lorri L. Henry; grandchildren, Angela L. Hare and husband Eric, John E. Walsh III and fiancé Christiana Grue, Shawn M. Walsh and fiancé Kristy Dean, Zachary T. Walsh and Joseph D. "JD" Walsh; great-grandchildren, Kailey A. Hare and Gavin P. Hare; a sister, Rita Sites; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends and family will be received at Durst Funeral Home P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Sunday, March 17, 2013 from 2 to 6 p.m.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Mount Savage, on Monday, March 18, 2013 at 11 a.m. with Fr. Doug Kenney as celebrant.
Interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
