Mr. Murphy was a retired steel worker for Republic Steel of Massillon, retiring after 27 years of service. He was a member of the Church of Nazarene and a army veteran of World War II.
Mr. Murphy was born July 19, 1910, in Morgan County, the son of Nelson and Melvilla Chappealear Murphy. Surviving are his wife, Edith Armstrong; two sons, Jerry Murphy of Springboro, Ohio and Mr. James Murphy of Medina; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Carl (Nema) Brill of Columbus.
Stone-Matheney Funeral Home at Chesterhill is in charge of arrangements.
