Services for J. C. Chavis Sr., 81, of Longview will be 10 a.n. Tuesday at Lakeview Chapel with the Rev. Kenneth Charles officiating.
Burial will be in Lakeview Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday at Lakeview Funeral Home. He died Saturday.
Mr. Chavis was born Oct. 29, 1911, in Pensacola, Fla., and came to Longview in 1953. He married Ida Bell Jones on Jan. 26, 1937, in Marshall. He was the retired owner of Chavis Floors Refinishing and was a Baptist. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge # 404, Waco Scottish Rite, Sharon Shrine Temple in Tyler and Order of the Eastern Star #610 of Longview.
Survivors include wife, Ida Bell of Longview; a son an daughter-in-law, J.C. and Martha of Liberty City; brothers, Alvin of Pensacola, Fla., and Levoughn of Pensacola, Fla; sisters, Nell B. Smith of Gulf Breeze, Fla., Emily White of Gulf Breeze, Fla, and Betty Arnold of Jacksonville, Fla.; and three grandchildren.
