Jerry Peel, 64, of Nicholasville, the husband of Joyce Simpson Peel, died Sunday, Sept. 15, at his residence.
A native of Jessamine County, he was the son of the late Luther and Virgie Sanders Peel. He was an Army veteran, a retired transport driver for Ashland Marathon LLC for more than 39 years and received the Million Mile Safe Driver Award. He was a Kentucky Colonel and a member of Sulphur Well Christian Church in Jessamine County.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons and their wives, Jeffrey and Pam Peel, Justin Randolph Peel of Nicholasville and Jerald Keith and Niki Peel of Tupelo, Miss.; three grandchildren, Debra Houchens, Jennifer Peel and Jordan Peel; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Billy and Mary Peel, Bobby and Betty Peel, all of Nicholasville, and Rankin and Marie Peel of Lexington; three sisters, Ethel Turner, Marjorie Stinnett, and Mary Lois Day, also of Nicholasville; and a cousin, Sue Murphy of Nicholasville,
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home on Harrodsburg Road in Lexington with the Rev. Dale Sanders and the Rev. Tom Fore officiating.
Private burial followed in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Jordan Peel, Gary Stinnett, Jerry Lee Day, Jimmy Estes, David Clayton Peel and Mike Peel.
