Rankin Guyn Peel Sr, 75, died Jan 13, 2009 at his home. He was born July 8, 1933 in Jessamine County, second son of the late Luther and Virgie Sanders Peel. In 1956 he married Violet Marie Fryman, who preceded him in death. He served his country as a Marine in the Korean War in the 1950's. Mr. Peel was a member of Elm Fork Christian Church and was a retiree of the University of Kentucky PPD Refrigeration Department after 37 years of service. He is survived by seven children, Judy (Dave) Hamershock, Eva (Gene) Ratliff, Rankin (Lois) Peel Jr., Donna (Stephen) White, Felicia (Ernie) Baker, John (Tonya) Peel and Mary (James) Pratt, fourteen grandchildren, Belinda, Gary Jr, David Jr, April, Stephen, Michael, Anthony "Tony", Tabitha, Angel, Kimberly, Donnie-Ray, Amanda, Heather and Megan, eighteen great grandchildren, one brother, Bobby (Betty) Peel and one sister, Marjorie Stinnett, many other family members. Services will be 1pm Sat at Betts & West Funeral Home with Rev. David Gambrel and Chaplin John Rudd officiating. Burial will follow in Bluegrass Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 6-9pm Fri. Bearers will be Gary Cairel Jr, Stephen White Jr, David Devine Jr, Michael Cairel, Donald Barlow and Mark O'Brien. Honorary Bearers will be Rankin Peel Jr, John Peel and Anthony "Tony" Peel.
