Howard Hersberger, Lapel Resident Dies Suddenly
Lapel--A lifelong resident of the Lapel community, Howard Hersberger, 88, died suddenly at the family home one mile south of Lapel. Born in Huntsville he spent his life in Stony Creek Twp. and owned and operated a farm until age and poor health forced him to retire a few years ago. He was a member of the Lapel Methodist church and the I.O.O.F. at Lapel.

The remains were taken to the Fisher Brothers Funeral Home, here, where friends may call. Services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Lapel Methodist Church. The Rev. Garfield Steedman will be in charge and burial will be in Brookside Cemetery.

Surviving are the widow, Adah; four sons, John, Lapel; Harry, Winchester; Bernard and Tilghman, both of Noblesville; 25 grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

Howard was married to Bertha L. Small daughter of James M. Small and Louise Todd on January 31, 1894. Bertha was the mother of their five children. After her death Howard married Martha Ora "Mattie" Huntzinger on September 16, 1931. She is buried at West Maplewood. After her death he married Adah Lura Rector Potts Hersberger on March 25, 1951. She is buried at Miller Cemetery in Henry County.
