GEORGE A. HAVENER DIES IN HOSPITAL - RITES TUESDAY
George Augustus Havener, 64, of 1730 West Packard Street, died at 12:03 p.m. yesterday in Decatur and Macon county hospital, following an illness of about one week.
He had lived in Decatur about 13 years, and was employed as a maintenance man with the Consumers Ice Co. He was a member of the Christian church of Illiopolis.
Mr. Havener was born in Illiopolis, Oct. 14, 1882, a son of Asa and Ida Havener. On Dec. 16, 1904 he was married to Bertha Cameron, who died Oct. 3, 1942. He was married again on April 14, 1944, to Pearl Denton of Owaneco.
He leaves his wife; 10 children, Mrs. Irene Adams, Decatur; Mrs. Inez Moore, Illiopolis; Clifford, Assumption; Thomas, Mt. Pulaski; Homer, Taylorville; and Otis, Asa, Harlan, Russell, and Everett, all of Decatur; three sisters, Mrs. Alice Davis, Clarkston, Wash.; and Mrs. Marvel Flor and Mrs. Eva Dohling, both of Marmath, N.D.; and 18 grandchildren. One daughter preceded him in death.
The body was taken to the Monson funeral home. Friends may call at the residence of his son, 1312 East Logan street, after noon today. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Monson chapel, with burial in Owaneco cemetery.
