From Zella's obituary:
Zella Onida Mannering Dowers was born in Burnside, Hancock County, Illinois, March 30, 1865. Two years later her parents, James Alfred and Susan Philura Mannering, came to Missouri, and settled near Lowry City.
On March 26, 1888, she was married to Allen O. Dowers, and they resided in this vicinity a number of years. To this union five children were born. Thery are: Alva Luff Dowers, Perryton, Texas; Jessie Oopal Jeffel, Holly, Colorado; Beulah Eva Yoakley, Perryton, Texas; Alfred N Dowers, Boyd, Oklahoma and Lillian Ernestine McLelland of Independence, Missouri.
The family moved from this vicinity to Beaver county, Oklahoma, in 1903. From there they moved to Perryton, Texas, in 1922, when her health became impaired and it was necessary for them to go to Liberal, Kansas for medical aid. The next year she was taken to Independence, Missouri, still seeking relief from the dreaded heart trouble, which had been pronounced incurable by all the doctors consulted.
On the night of December 25th,she became suddenly ill and for about two weeks her life hung in the balance. The children were summoned and all reached her bedside in time to be of comfort to her. Three sistyers were with her also, but all that loving hands could do proved to be of no avail, and on the evening of March 3, 1925, she departed this life suddenly, having endured great affliction with much patience and little murmuring. She leaves a kind husband and many loved ones.
She united with the Christian church at the age of fourteen years. When twently-two years of age she was baptized into the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Elder I.N. White of Independence, Missouri, baptized and confirmed her, pronounced her marriage ceremony and assisted his son Ammon, in conducting her funeral sermon, which was held at the Stone church in Independence, on March 5. The body was then laid to rest in the Mound cemetery.

Daughter of James Alfred and Susan Philura Evans Mannering.

Zella had nine siblings:
