He was born in Bakers Summit, son of the late Irvin and Nettie (Lingenfelter) Dively. He married Dorothy V. Moses on May 23, 1946, in Cumberland, Md., and she passed away May 9, 2004.
Surviving are a son, Darryle E. and wife, Ginny, of Imler; a daughter, Barbara A. Kriczky and husband, Michael J., of Claysburg; two granddaughters: Rhonda Fiess and Megan L. Lehman; two great-granddaughters: Elizabeth and Emily Fiess; a brother, Robert; and a sister, Dorothy Weyandt.
He was preceded in death by eight siblings: Brady, Melvin, Leslie, Grace and Wilmer Dively, Annie Black, Millie Daugherty and Thelma Albright.
Mearl retired in 1983 from General Refractories, Claysburg, where he was the last hand molder of bricks in the company. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, NASCAR racing and spending time with his family.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg, and 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, June 16, 2011, at Claysburg Church of God. A funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, Pastor Charlie Miller officiating. Interment will be at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery. Military honors at the church will be provided by the Blair County Veterans Honor Guard.
