Deseret News, The (Salt Lake City, UT) - October 21, 2001 Deceased Name: Obituary: Hazel Marintha Eccles Larsen. Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Hazel Marintha Eccles Larsen, passed away peacefully at 7:09 a.m. October 20, 2001. She is now with the many family members and friends who have gone before. She will also be greeted by thousands of people who are singing her praises for the genealogy work she did. Hazel was born April 20, 1914 in Delta, UT to Anna Nielsina Rasmussen and Stewart Eccles. Hazel married Frank J. Larsen June 1, 1937 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Hazel has been a very hard worker from an early age, first at home, and then tending, sewing, and cleaning for a family from the time she was 12 until she was 18. She worked at Z.C.M.I. until she was married. Hazel has done extensive work in genealogy, gardening, accounting, and as the business manager of Frank J. Larsen Tree Service, which they started together in 1945. Frank and Hazel worked together side-by-side in their many endeavors, including many rental properties. She was extraordinary at keeping meticulous records of everything they did. Hazel served as Relief Society president in the Grant 1st Ward. She also taught many classes, including genealogy. The grandchildren will always remember the fun times shared with their grandparents camping and at family gatherings.

Hazel is survived by her five loving, caring sons, Arvel F. (Ruth), Larry J. (Marilee), Earl W. (Joyce), Jay N. (Gay), Glade S. (Carolyn); 18 grand-children; 18 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Mabel McMahon, CA; Louise Stout, Bountiful; Pearl Hilton, Salt Lake, Ellen Campbell, Murray. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and her wonderful communication skills and humor. We cherished the time we cared for Hazel at her home after her stroke.

Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Frank J. Larsen; parents; brothers, Stewart, Norman, Marvin, David; and a sister, Delores. Services will be Wed.
