She was born and raised in Salt Lake City the daughter of Stewart and Anna Rasmussen Eccles. She was the eighth of ten children.
She graduated from West High School in 1938.
She married Grant Henningson on December 24, 1948. In 1949, she had her first son, Steven Eccles Henningson. They were later divorced. On February 25, 1959, she married Gilmer S. Hilton. In 1961, she had her second son, Douglas Gilmer Hilton.
She started working at eight years old cleaning people's houses and babysitting.
She became a seamstress for ZCMI, then went on to the advertising industry working for Gillam Advertising and Axelson Advertising Agency. She was also an executive secretary, bookkeeper, and accountant.
When she retired at the age of seventy, she was the executive secretary and personal assistant for Walker Wallace, President and CEO of Wallace & Associates.
She is survived by her two sons, Steven Eccles (Ramona) Henningson and Douglas Gilmer (Teri) Hilton; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; brothers, Stewart, Norman, Marvin, and David; and sisters, Delores, Hazel, Mabel, Louise, and Ellen.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at Elysian Burial Gardens, 1075 East College Street (4580 South).
