Iva J. (Horste) Aley,85, of Fort Wayne died Saturday, January 28, 1995, at the Saint Anne Home in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The Grayville, Ill., native retired in 1974 as a switchboard operator for Fort Wayne National Bank after 32 years, was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church and the widow of Donald R. Aley, who died in 1989.
Iva and Donal Robert "Chick" Aley came to Fort Wayne in February, 1940 from Springfield, Missouri, where Chick had been an Assistant Manager for Montgomery Ward's....he worked in Fort Wayne for Grand Leader, Wolf & Dessauer's and retired from Lincoln National Bank in 1972. Iva J. "Horste" Aley worked for Hadley's and then became the switchboard operator at Earl Groth & Co. and after almost thirty-two years at Fort Wayne National Bank retired from there in 1974. Iva and Chick lived in Chicago, Albuquergue, NM, Gallup, NM, Pama, Texas, Amarillo, Texas, Salina, Kansas, and Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Married on May 22, 1926 in West Salem, Illinois to Iva J. Horste. Rev. Billings officiated with attendants being Bernadine Smith & Dwain Bass. Iva loved her family and worked tirelessly on putting together a huge geneology book for each of her Horste family members.
Iva was the daughter of Albert and Lena (Nicklaus) Horste of Grayville, Illinois.
Surviving were nieces and nephews. Services were held at the D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne, Indiana,Dr. Thomas M. Dicken and Dr. Jeane Spoor officiating, with entombment in Covington Memorial Gardens.
