Nelson A. Clouser Who Died When Sitting In Hospital Was Buried Sunday

Nelson A. Clouser of northeast of Edina died suddenly Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 10, 1952, while sitting in a chair in the waiting room of the Gibson Hospital here. He was 69 years old and had not been well and was under a doctor's care for some time but was feeling better than usual that day. He expected to go home with his brother, Orville Clouser, of Fabius and had him drive him to the hospital for a check-up before going to Fabius, and while waiting for his doctor died.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon by the Rev. Merle J. White, pastor of the Assembly of God Church, at the Hudson Funeral Home here. Burial was in Linville Cemetery.

Besides the brother mentioned there survive three sisters and another brother. They are: Misses Ethel M. and Nina M. Clouser, who lived with him at the home northeast of town; Fern, Mrs. Thomas Harper, of Hurdland and Ralph R. Clouser of Quincy.

Nelson Albert [sic] Clouser, the oldest of the seven children of the late Benjamin Fish Clouser and Mary Melvina Judd Clouser, was born Nov. 28 1882, at Dawson, Sangamon County, Ill. The family left Illinois in 1905 and moved to Manzanola, Colo. From there Mr. Clouser came with his parents in 1908 to Knox County, Missouri, and he has lived since then in the vicinity of Edina.

His father died June 13, 1937, at the age of 74 years and his mother, Jan. 5, 1940, at the age of 79 years. A brother, Arthur A. Clouser, preceded him in death Nov. 27, 1946.

Mr. and Mrs. Everett Hobbs of Davenport, Iowa, and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Burrus and baby son and Miss Eva Clouser of Rock Island, Ill., came Saturday afternoon to attend the funeral, the women being nieces, and they returned to their homes after the funeral. While here they visited at the home of the women's mother, Mrs. Ethel Clouser.
