The funeral service for Mrs. A. W. ßierman, who died Friday morning, 13, 1961, at Northfield Hospital, was held Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 17, at All Saints church. The Rev. Donald Field, rector o! the church, and the Rev. Victor E. Pinkham, former rector, officiated. Henry Woodward played the organ and Sigurd Fredrickson sang. Interment was in Oaklawn cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Raymond Howie, Fay Larkin, James O. Caulfield, Donald MacKenzie, Stanley Miller, all of Northfield, and Glenn Sullivan of Minneapolis. Mrs. Bierman was ill with cancer for many months, patiently bearing poor health and never complaining to her friends or family. Always fond of people, she continued to attend social events when the condition was advanced. She also made a trip to Florida to visit old friends. Associated with the Bierman Furniture and Mortuary company since 1912, she continued to help at the store daily until last October 22. She served as president of the company until her death. Mrs. Bierman, nee Bessie E. Parker, was born May 4,1887, in Stearns county, the daughter of Joseph and Ella (Stewart) Parker. She grew up ip that area and as a voung woman taught in country schools near Long Prairie. Later she was employed in a dry goods store in Sauk Centre. When she first came to Northfield, she was employed at the Alex Marshall company. She was married on August 21, 1912, to Arthur W. Bierman, a native of Dennison who had begun his Northfield business career in 1906. He celebrated his 50th business anniversary on April17,1956, but died on June 23 of that year. Mrs. Bierman is survived by two sons, William and John, both of whom are active in the furniture and mortuary business; one daughter, Arvilla, at home; 11 grandchildren; one brother, Henry Parker of Sauk Centre; a number of nieces and nephews. Three brothers preceded her in death, Orin who was a World War I casualty; Joseph who died in 1928 as the result of World War I injuries; and Roscoe who died in 1948. Mrs. Bierman was a member of Sheba Chapter No. 73, O.E.S., had served in office in the organization. She was also a member of White Rose Rebekah Lodge No. 100; Northfield Unit No. 84, American Legion Auxiliary; the Northfield Golf club.
