Althea L. Meiser, 78, of R.R. #2, McAlisterville, went to be with her Lord at 5:57 p.m., Thursday, February 19, 2009, at the Lewistown Hospital.

Born on May 3, 1930, in Fayette Twp., Juniata County, a daughter of the late Cloyd R. and Margaret L (Smith) Colyer, Sr.. Her first husband, Clyde L. Baughman, whom she married on April 4, 1948, and her second husband, George F. Meiser, whom she married on September 24, 1988, preceded her in death.

Surviving is her son: Leon F. Baughman and his wife Norene, of R.R. #1, Mifflintown, her step children: Edgar H. Meiser and his wife Heidrun, Big Spring, TX, Harry L. Meiser and his wife Melinda, R.R. #1 Thompsontown, Devera R. Meiser, Carlisle, Stanley R. Meiser and his wife Karie, Abilene, TX, six siblings, George A. Colyer, of RR 1, McAlisterville, Esther A. Billow, of McAlisterville, William S. Colyer of Thompsontown, Norman L. Colyer, of Richfield, Cloyd R. Colyer, Jr., of RR #2, McAlisterville and Roy S. Colyer, of Mifflintown, and she leaves behind 8 grandchildren, Keir M. Baughman and his wife Sandra, Kendra Drawbaugh and her husband Michael, Michael Meiser and his wife Melissa, Amber Holman and her husband Josh, Megan Meiser, Matthew Meiser, Brandon Meiser, Emily Meiser, 9 great-grandchildren, Trevor A. Drawbaugh, Gavin A. Drawbaugh, Andrea Noel Drawbaugh, Elaina Rose Baughman, Mia Meiser, Maddie Meiser, Mackenzie Meiser, Maximus Meiser and Addie Holman.

One granddaughter, Courtni Meiser, one brother, Albert F. Colyer and four sisters, Mary E. Dressler, Anna Mae Weiand, Ruth E. Colyer and Mildred G. Dunn, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Meiser was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, McAlisterville, where she had served as president of her Sunday school class.

Her career as a seamstress spanned 45 years, until her retirement in 1992 from Lyon Fashions, McAlisterville.

Althea enjoyed doing fill in puzzles, traveling; however, spending time with her family, especially all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren held a special place in her heart.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 24, 2009, from the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, McAlisterville with the Rev. Erin Bovendam officiating. Interment followed in the Hillside Cemetery, McAlisterville.

Viewing was from 4- 9 p.m., with the family present from 7 - 9 p.m., Monday, February 23, 2009 at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 16 Westfall St., McAlisterville.
